'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic final moments of Swansea's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game ended with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from outside the box, and the defender promptly slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result capped an unbelievable turnaround given the team had been behind 2-0 during the latter period. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a fan shouting out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory secured a next round match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the same stage of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for having a go from that far out," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right wing-back after Orient changed tactics. That meant getting to grips with Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way Orient played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Physically they are very good but even the fundamentals and routine actions, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It appears that they never miss a pass and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at League Two the Manchester club, before he departed Old Trafford.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. You see few hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for his team and nation, excelling for his national side, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has started the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Humble Beginnings

This marks quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his parent, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

Galbraith's only game for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to the weather of -15C. "This represented a extended travel and it was freezing," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "The decision proved fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I thought I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"I travel with the Portuguese player, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. His teammate is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
